iFLY European Cup Le Mailly 2026: iFLY15 Sail Racing – Formula Foil Racing on Lake Como / Italy

International Formula Foil Racing & iFLY Foiling Days

The established iFLY Foiling Days, held from July 2 to 5, will be followed by the sixth edition of the iFLY European Cup Le Mailly from July 6 to 13, the annual regaatta and centerpiece of the international iFLY15 class calendar.

Colico, Lake Como. The international iFLY15 fleet will gather in Colico for the first time this July 2026. The European Cup Le Mailly brings Formula Foil Hydrofoil Sail Racing to the northern end of Lake Como, combining a week of competitive racing with the annual gathering of iFLY owners and sailors from several countries.

The Cup will be held for the sixth time in 2026. After five editions on Lake Geneva, the event moves to a new venue for the first time. Northern Lake Como offers excellent conditions for the broad performance range that defines the iFLY15, from tactical sailing in lighter breeze and early takeoff to controlled high-performance foiling as the thermal wind builds.

Formula Foil Racing Across a Wide Wind Range

The iFLY15 begins foiling in approximately six to seven knots of wind. As the breeze increases, the boat unlocks its full high-performance potential and can reach speeds of more than 30 knots.

The defining strength of the iFLY15 is its versatility. It was designed to remain fast and controllable across a wide range of wind and water conditions. It foils both upwind and downwind, on flat water as well as in waves and more demanding conditions.

The mechanical FlySafe Foil Control System stabilizes the boat’s flight, allowing the sailors to focus on speed, angles, sail trim, tactics and maneuvers. This principle connects the iFLY15 with the leading foiling platforms of the America’s Cup and SailGP. Stable flight is the foundation for maintaining speed and executing tactical maneuvers with precision.

That versatility could prove decisive on Lake Como. In lighter conditions, boat handling, positioning and tactical judgment will shape the racing. As the Breva fills in, the performance for which the iFLY15 is known will come to the forefront, with stable flight, high speeds and precise foiling maneuvers.

iFLY15 and iFLY RAZZOR Pro

The iFLY15 was designed from the outset as a foiling catamaran. Four T-foils and its automatic mechanical flight control system provide the foundation for early takeoff, stable flight and controllable speed.

Since 2022, the iFLY RAZZOR Pro has complemented the platform as a sharper version of the iFLY15 for experienced performance sailors and professionals. It expands the possibilities for active trim and is engineered for maximum foiling performance.

At the European Cup, the two versions of the iFLY performance foiler will meet on the same racecourse. The outcome will ultimately be decided by racing performance. Starts, course selection, trim, maneuvers and the ability to carry speed through changing conditions will determine the results.

iFLY Foiling Days, July 2 to 5

Before racing begins, Colico will host the established iFLY Foiling Days.

Performance-oriented sailors will have the opportunity to test the iFLY15 on the water and experience its distinctive combination of speed, stable flight and direct handling. Owners of the iFLY15 and iFLY RAZZOR Pro will use the sessions for individual coaching, group training and focused preparation for the European Cup.

Depending on experience, the program ranges from an introduction to foiling to the finer points of boat setup and speed management, race starts and practical techniques for foiling maneuvers, including tacks and gybes.

The Annual Gathering of the Class

The European Cup Le Mailly is more than the most important regatta on the class calendar. It is also the annual international gathering of iFLY owners and sailors.

On the water, the focus is direct competition. Ashore, sailors exchange setup knowledge and experience while continuing to develop their skills on the iFLY15 and iFLY RAZZOR Pro.

That open exchange has been part of the Cup since its first edition and has helped turn the event from a standalone regatta into an established international class gathering.

A Challenge Trophy with Its Own History

The European Cup Le Mailly was founded in 2021 at the Le Mailly estate of the Firmenich family on Lake Geneva, a family with a long tradition in sailing. Although the event moves to Lake Como this year, it retains the Le Mailly name, reflecting its origins on Lake Geneva.

Racing is held for a silver challenge trophy that is passed from one winning team to the next each year. The engraving was created by the same artist who also worked on the America’s Cup trophy.

Ten Years of the iFLY15

The sixth edition of the European Cup also takes place during the iFLY15’s tenth anniversary year.

Since its introduction, the concept has been continuously developed. Today, the iFLY15 and iFLY RAZZOR Pro are sailed in numerous countries for training, high-performance sailing and racing.

The anniversary adds another dimension to the week in Colico. The focus, however, remains on Formula Foil Racing, the European Cup Le Mailly and the annual gathering of the international class.
